Bestmed will be participating in the Partners for Possibility (PfP) project for the fifth consecutive year. This South African born initiative aims to inspire, develop and support school principals in under-resourced schools through innovative cross-sectoral partnerships with business.
For the latter part of this year to 2020, Bestmed has been partnered with Mamelodi East Pre-Vocational School. A total of 330 learners are enrolled at the School and we will be working very closely with the Principal, Mrs. Seemole Matlala, to develop leadership and active citizenship to achieve improved education in this under-resourced school.
WHAT WE’VE DONE SO FAR
Introductory meetings and needs identification
Every year a different manager in Bestmed is selected to champion the PfP project, and this year the project has been allocated to Bestmed’s Talent Manager, Michelle Ward. Meetings have been held with Mrs. Matlala, the Teachers at the School, and the School Governing Body to discuss their needs and identify the initiatives that will be undertaken to meet their most dire needs during the project.
Donation of boardroom chairs
Bestmed’s Facilities team assisted in ensuring that all the teachers receive old boardroom chairs.
Annual Golf Day
Bestmed’s annual Golf Day, which took place on 21 August 2019, was extra special as Mrs. Matlala was introduced to the attendees of the event and accepted the following donations of behalf of the School:
- A cheque of R 15 000.00 from Bestmed.
- Monetary donations from two other Golf Day attendees totalling R 20 000.00.
- Investhouse Financial Group (IFG) and Mediscor each sponsored two projectors.
