COVID-19 vaccine and 2021 flu vaccine

Winter is here and as usual, so is the dreaded flu. However, with the medical technology of vaccines, the chances of contracting either of these viruses can be greatly reduced or even eliminated completely. Why take the risk? Take your vaccine as soon as you can. Protect yourself and your family from these winter viruses so that your immune system can be at its peak in case you have to defend your body from an ailment.

Prevent tuberculosis (TB)

What is tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious lung disease. Although bacteria (not a virus) causes TB, the infection spreads in the same way as COVID-19 – from one person to another through tiny droplets released from the nose or mouth into the air. It’s the leading cause of death in South Africa and one of the top ten causes of death worldwide.

Bestmed’s unique, specialised digital platforms

Just a year ago, the thought of paperless scripts, integrated platforms for specialist referrals and video consultations seemed more futuristic than realistic. The iCanRefer digital platform and iCanScript web application are examples of how Bestmed Medical Scheme is getting it right.

Bestmed’s COVID-19 Statistics

Difficult times have befallen so many people because of the COVID-19 pandemic. While we are concerned about people who have lost their work, income, and livelihoods we sympathise just as much with those who have contracted the virus and fallen dangerously ill. As a medical scheme Bestmed has tried its best to proactively provide our members with everything that they need to be well equipped to handle this pandemic.

Pimple pandemic: 7 ways to prevent maskne

As if COVID-19 weren’t enough to have to deal with, many have to deal with acne break outs around the nose, cheeks, mouth and chin from wearing face masks. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common childhood disorder, which is thought to be neurological. Children diagnosed with ADHD often have trouble focusing, and are easily distracted, overly active or talkative (in some cases), impulsive and forgetful. Symptoms often last into adulthood and may interfere with studies, work, household management and relationships.
